Summary

Wheelies Direct is a thriving ecommerce company for the cycling and leisure goods industry based in Swansea and we are proud to boast a £30 million turnover and employ over 250 staff in total. The IT department is 30 strong and we continue to grow and evolve developing a range of software solutions for the business from internal business systems to customer facing eCommerce solutions.

We are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of delivery within the field of IT software development.

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing an array of business transformation related projects/tasks within a fast paced agile software development team.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience of managing multiple projects/tasks both large and small at any given time
  • Experience within an IT department with a good technical understanding of the software development process and IT terminology
  • Experience of working to strict deadlines and timescales
  • Ability to use and adopt various project management methodologies
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible with changing business requirements
  • Ability to work alone and within a team
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with developers, testers and software end users
  • Ability to remain consistently calm and professional under pressure
  • Diagnosis and understanding of common issues experienced by software end users
  • Maintain consistently high levels of customer service, showing empathy and dealing patiently and professionally with enquiries and complaints from people in a variety of roles across the business
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a strong sense of customer service
  • Ability to follow procedures and suggest improvements to departmental standards and Agile best practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Appreciation of common issues experienced by software end users

Desirable skills

  • PRINCE2 or Agile PM practitioner certification preferred
  • A background in development support would be advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Aid project planning by identifying project tasks, phases, milestones, and development estimates
  • Support and smooth the whole project lifecycle from planning, to implementation and evaluation
  • Coordinate project/task lists and monitoring progress of those tasks
  • Allocate projects/tasks to the appropriate developer(s) and ensuring good progress of those tasks
  • Organise and facilitating workshops and meetings as requested by line managers
  • Manage project scope and ensuring this is tightly controlled
  • Keep all stakeholders up to date with progress
  • Operate within team procedures including signing off and evaluating completed projects/tasks
